STOKE CITY RELEASE SPANISH INTERNATIONAL


Former Barcelona starlet Bojan has been released from his contract at Stoke City. His contract was terminated by mutual consent.
He was on loan for a year and a half at Mainz and Alaves respectively before returning to parent club, Stoke City.


Stoke endured a nightmare campaign in the championship as they finished in a Bojan joined Stoke City in 2014 from Barcelona, he made 85 appearances across five years in all competitions, scoring 16 goals in the process. Stoke released a statement on their official website to wish the Spaniard well in the future.


He looked like he was going to live
up to the hype when he joined Stoke City in the premiership as he was playing well and displaying scintillating performances until sustaining a serious knee injury and cruciate ligament damage in an FA Cup fourth round against Rochdale. He never fully recovered nor got back to the form he displayed when he joined.
Bojan, in his early days, was considered one of the best young talent, he was part of the Spanish Under 17 side that reached the final in 2007 World cup, alongside DeGea and Fran Merida. He had an excellent tournament till suspension ruled him out of the final, a final they lost on penalties to Nigeria.


He was a product of famed La Masia academy and was tagged the new Messi, he weighed him down and he never lived up to the expectations.
He broke into the first team set up in 2007 at 17 under Pep Guardiola. He went on to make 163 appearances for the first team scoring 41 goals and registering 16 assists.
He could not establish himself and he was sold to Seria A giants, As Roma, stints in Ac Milan, Ajax and Gijon followed before finally joining Stoke.
