LIVERPOOL CHASE KRKIC

Liverpool could be looking at signing former Barcelona youth team product Bojan Krkic on a permanent basis in the summer. The striker has failed to reach the heights many expected of him only a few years ago. Still only 23, he has a long time left ahead of him in football. Rather incredibly, he was valued at more than £ 35 million by Roma and Barcelona only three years ago, but he is now only valued at around £ 5 million. He is currently playing for Ajax on loan from Barcelona till the end of the season.

It has been heavily rumoured that Barcelona have lost patience with him and are prepared to sell him in the summer for this nominal fee. After having enjoyed remarkable success with the gamble taken on Philippe Coutinho, the club appear to believe that they can strike gold twice with the signing of the Spanish international. Coutinho was signed for just £ 8 million from Inter Milan, but he has proved to be a great acquisition for the club in the last 12 months. Roma initially signed Krkic for £ 11 million, but he was immediately loaned to AC Milan.

Barcelona were then forced to buy back the player rather than make an additional £ 25 million out of him as agreed. Krkic was hugely popular when he was making his name at the Barcelona youth academy.

The striker refused to talk about his future since he wanted to concentrate on his football right now. The 23-year-old has also revealed that the summer will reveal more about his next destination. "We'll see about my future, there are still two months of the season to go before any decisions have to be made,” said the striker, who has made one appearance for the Spanish national team.
